The Gathering
One of NHA's most important roles is sponsoring fiber-related events. For these events, each member state takes their turn hosting the event, and takes primary responsibility for the event when they are host state.
The Gathering
NHA sponsors a biennial weekend of intensive workshops and sharing of ideas for spinners throughout the region, known as The Gathering.
All member states take turns at hosting The Gathering. NHA members are eligible to attend The Gathering. Space is limited, however, so please register early to ensure your place at this wonderful event.

July 2010 Update:
The Gathering registration has officially opened and the mail lady has been delivering bundles of paperwork to my mailbox with class choices, meal plans, and shirt orders!
It is only July, but time flies, so November 5, 2010 will be here before
we realize it. All of the classes are very interesting and it is difficult
to choose which classes to sign up for. The Friday afternoon classes are
very popular and hopefully will become a tradition in future Gatherings
Some classes have filled to capacity already, so if you haven’t
registered yet, be sure to note your 2nd, 3rd, & 4th choices.
One of the wonderful instructors, Therese Chynoweth, who is from Burlington, VT has contacted me to say that she has accepted a job as Technical Editor for Creative Knitting magazine, in Indiana! Therese has made arrangements to come back to Vermont for the NHA Gathering to teach her classes, Cutting Without Fear, Basic Norwegian Construction Techniques, and Color Work 101. Whew ! Thank you Therese for being willing to come back to Vermont while just beginning a new job.
**Volunteers are still needed for the registration desk on Friday afternoon, Nov. 5. If anyone can spare 1 or 2 hours to help us hand out Gathering packets and check in participants, please contact me, Norma Bromley, (boreas25@localnet.com or 802-467-3222) ASAP. The time slots are: noon-2, 2-4, and 4-6 p.m.
**Help setting up the Vendor spaces early Friday would also be appreciated.

May 2010 Update
The Vermont committee for the 2010 NHA Gathering has been busy! The 2010 NHA Gathering, November 5, 6, & 7, 2010, will be held in Southern Vermont at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel & Conference Center at Mount Snow, Rt. 100, West Dover, VT (www.mountsnow.com) which is very convenient to all of New England. Rooms/studios are reserved for $99/night (sleep 4). Larger accommodations are available at higher rates. Also, NHA members may stay over prior to, or after the event, at the same rate. We will have access to the outdoor heated swimming pool, and hot tub, as well as the sauna. (Spa facilities are available at additional cost).
Currently, ten Mentors are scheduled to teach at the Gathering: Sara Lamb from California, Deb Menz from Wisconsin, Letty Klein and Amy Tyler from Michigan, as well as some New England area instructors. Class topics include: Weaving with Cut Pile; Combs & Hackles; Braid Rugs With Roving; Color Blending at the Wheel; Needle Felting; Natural Dyeing; Knitting/Cutting Without Fear; Wire Knitted Jewelry; and more! There will be a great variety of fiber oriented learning, sensational food, fabulous vendors, and fun!
More information will be posted as it becomes available. Tell your spinning friends, and plan on attending a great fiber Gathering in beautiful Southern Vermont in November 2010!

2010 NHA Gathering-Update!!!

Mount Snow Grand Summit Resort Hotel & Conference Center
The NHA Gathering is going to be an exciting fiber event with 10 great Mentors teaching a variety of interesting classes: Knitting, Braiding, Weaving, Combing, Needle Felting, Dyeing, Blending Colors, Spinning, and more are being offered during the weekend.
The first weekend in November can be a cold, dreary time for some people, but we fiber people will be enjoying the amenities of the Mount Snow Resort (heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna, outdoor hot tubs), the lobby with a blazing fieldstone fireplace, lobby niches to sit and visit with old and new friends while leisurely spinning and enjoying the outside views, and convenient shopping among 12 Fiber Vendors.
Our Saturday night entertainment will be one of our Mentors, Barb Parry, presenting an audio/visual show, "Adventures in Yarn Farming". Of course, there will be "Spin-Ins" on Friday and Saturday nights.
The menu consists of 6 hot meals, all served buffet style with a variety of deliciously prepared food.
A specially designed long sleeve dark green twill shirt with the NHA Gathering 2010 logo embroidered over the left pocket may be ordered for $25 on the Registration form. Note the 2010 logo is an 'artistic interpretation' of "Moonlight in Vermont" with a spinning theme! Hey, if we want to believe the moon is a ball of handspun yarn...
All the Gathering 2010 details are included in the NHA packet being mailed to all members June 1. Please return your completed registration form after July 1 and come to Vermont for a truly pleasurable fiber adventure!
